Semantic computing

Description

The term semantic computing has two meanings. The first, broader term indicates the use of inferred meaning through a number of mechanisms to attempt to locate or organize information. This is closely related to Natural Language Processing in that both attempt to infer structure and intent from human language.

The more specific term involves the use of knowledge graphs and related graph technologies, such as the W3C Semantic Web platform, to create inferences and define relationships through the use of global identifiers and computational assertions. This is generally referred to as Semantics or Linked Data.
