Andrew Spanyi recently spoke with Setrag Khoshafian, PhD who is the Principal and Chief Scientist at Khosh Consulting about improving the performance of AI projects by viewing performance differently.

While the reasons for the failure of AI pilot projects have been well documented, including a tool driven approach and problems with data, perhaps a new way of thinking about AI is needed. What may be needed is viewing organizational performance horizontally instead of vertically. A so called “center of excellence” may be useful in teaching the organization to view performance in terms of the firm’s value chains and how value is created. Then AI can be deployed to achieve organizational objectives and how to eliminate waste and improve customer experience.
